Editor’s Note: The February Buff
We need to talk about the latest stealth patch. As of February 1st, the developers at Duckov Games (Escape from Duckov) have buffed Luminus’s reaction time. He now toggles his “Sun-Ray” flashlight almost instantly when he hears footsteps on metal.
If you are following an old guide from 2025, you will get wiped. I’ve updated the strategy section below to reflect his new AI behavior. Do not sprint on the Lighthouse stairs. You have been warned.

If you have been running night raids on the Coastline map recently, you’ve probably died to him. You are creeping through the dark with your expensive GPNVG-18 Night Vision Goggles, feeling like a spec-ops predator, when suddenly—FLASH.
A beam of light brighter than the sun hits your face. Your screen goes white. You are dead before you can even toggle your goggles off. This is the “Man of Light” (in-game name: Luminus). He is the night-exclusive boss added in the Darkness Update, and he is a nightmare for unprepared players.
In this guide, we will teach you how to complete the quest, counter his blinding tactics, and extract with his legendary shotgun.

Who is the “Man of Light”? (Quick Boss Guide)
The Man of Light (Quest) is a high-level task given by the Brotherhood of the Egg faction. It requires you to eliminate the boss Luminus.

Spawn Time & Location
22:00 – 04:00 (Night Raids Only) at The Old Lighthouse (Coastline Map). He does not appear during the day.

Signature Tactic
Uses a modified “Sun-Ray” tactical flashlight to permanently blind players using Night Vision Goggles (NVGs).

Health Pool
Extremely High Chest HP. Standard ballistics will struggle; requires AP ammo to penetrate efficiently.
Quest Requirements: The Brotherhood’s Demand
To unlock this quest, you must be Level 25 and have completed the “Shadows of the Duck” questline.
Objectives:
- Locate Luminus at the Old Lighthouse.
- Eliminate him between 23:00 and 03:00.
- Retrieve his “Sun-Ray” Flashlight Module (Quest Item).
- Extract safely.
Rewards: 25,000 XP, Purchase rights for Gen-3 NVGs, and +0.10 Reputation with Brotherhood of the Egg.
Boss Location: The Old Lighthouse Trap
Luminus is not a roamer; he is a camper. He exclusively guards the top floor of the Old Lighthouse on the Coastline map. He has roughly a 30% spawn rate.
Совет профессионала: Listen for the sound of a heavy diesel generator. If the Lighthouse generator is running and the spotlight is rotating, Luminus is home. If it’s silent, the lighthouse is empty.
The Acolytes: Watch Out for the Guards
You are rarely fighting Luminus alone. He is protected by 2-3 guards known as “Acolytes”.
- Gear: They wear dark robes and Class 4 Armor.
- Weapons: Suppressed SMGs (usually MP5SD or Vectors) loaded with RIP ammo (high flesh damage).
- Tactics: They do NOT use flashlights. They hide in the dark corners of the staircase and wait for you to engage the boss.
WARNING:
Do not rush the stairs. Acolytes will throw flashbangs down the spiral staircase to disorient you before pushing.
Strategy: How to Counter the Flashlight Blind
Fighting the Man of Light is unique because your biggest strength (Night Vision) becomes your weakness.
1. The “Leg Meta” Approach
Luminus wears heavy Class 6 armor on his chest (Slick Plate Carrier), but he wears standard cargo pants. Use a high-RPM SMG or a Shotgun with Magnum Buckshot and aim for the legs. Do not try to penetrate his helmet while you are blinded.
2. Turn Off NVGs!
This sounds insane, but it’s necessary. Approach the Lighthouse with NVGs ON. Once you breach the main door, toggle NVGs OFF (Default Key: N). Wait for him to turn on his light. His flashlight is so bright it will illuminate the room enough for you to aim without goggles.
3. Use Thermal Sights
Thermal scopes (FLIR/REAP-IR) are immune to the blinding effect of visible light. If you can afford the 500k price tag, a thermal scope makes this fight easy mode.

The “Man of Light” is one of the most mechanically interesting fights in Escape from Duckov. It forces you to abandon your reliance on Night Vision and fight adaptively.
Don’t let him catch you staring into the beam. Pre-fire the corners, aim for the knees, and watch out for the Acolytes hiding in the shadows.
